How Did You Achieve Your Goal? - Motivational Story

Once Swamiji was walking with a small pet dog in his ashram. 

Then suddenly a young man came to his ashram and bowed at his 

feet and said – “Swamiji, I am very troubled with my life. 

I make efforts every day but till date I have not been able to achieve 

success. 

I don't know what God has written in my destiny that despite being 

so educated, I am a failure.

 

Vivekananda ji immediately understood the problem of the young 

man. 

He said to the young man – “Brother! Take this dog of mine for a 

walk somewhere far. 

After that I will answer your questions. 

The young man felt a little strange at his words, but again he did not 

ask any questions and went ahead, chasing the dog.

 

 

When the young man reached the ashram after taking the dog for a 

walk for a long time, he saw that the young man's face was still 

bright but the small dog was panting loudly due to fatigue. 

On this Swami ji asked – Why brother, how did my dog get so tired? 

You are looking very calm. Aren't you tired?

 

 

The young man said – 'Swami ji, I was walking slowly and 

comfortably but this one was very restless. 

He was running in front of all the animals he met on the way. 

That's why it got so tired even after covering the same distance.

Then Vivekananda ji said – 'Brother, the answer to your questions is 

also the same. 

Your goal is right next to you. She is a little far away from you but 

you leave your goal and keep running behind other people and thus 

you move away from what you want to achieve. 

The young man was satisfied with the answer and started correcting 

his mistake.

 

 

Friends, don't you think that today we too are busy following others 

like the dog in this story. 

If your friend is a doctor then you also want to become one. 

Whether you have any interest in it or not. 

By doing this we lose our talent and keep struggling throughout our 

life. 

Therefore friends, do not follow others. 

Make your own goal and pursue it with full dedication.
